To further increase your skill and become a more accurate and professional pilot, an instrument rating is perfect to add to your private pilot certificate. Instrument Rating training teaches you how to fly an airplane from one airport to another airport without having to look outside! This Rating allows pilots to fly through clouds and in reduced visibility conditions. Your Instrument Rating can be achieved in as little as 4 months.
The applicant must have a current private pilot certificate; a FAA medical certificate; be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language; and be at least 17 years of age. Take a ground school training course or receive ground training from an authorized instructor. Receive a logbook endorsement certifying you are prepared for the FAA knowledge test.
The applicant must accumulate a minimum of 50 hours of a cross-country flight time as pilot in command, 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument time, 3 hours of 1 on 1 ground instructions.

The national average to get a private pilot certificate is 60 to 65 hours of flight training. Each person’s ability and availability to fly will vary. Any additional flight training cost, use of aircraft cost, or instructor training cost will be the responsibility of the candidate.
