Commercial Pilot training builds upon the skills and knowledge acquired in your previous certifications. A commercial pilot certificate is a license, or certificate that allows pilots to operate an aircraft for compensation, this certificate can be achieved in as little as 4 months.
A licensed commercial pilot may act as pilot-in-command of an aircraft for compensation or hire, as well as carry persons or property for compensation or hire. To put it another way, holding a commercial pilot license means you are legally allowed to get paid as a pilot.
In order to be eligible for an FAA commercial pilot license, a person must be at least 18 years of age; be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language; earn private pilot certificate; and add instrument rating. To fly large passenger airliners, pilots must add multi-engine privileges to their pilot commercial certificate. Adding a multi-engine rating to the Commercial Pilot certificate is the final step before building the experience needed to meet the minimum hiring requirement.
To earn a commercial pilot license, a pilot must hold a private pilot license, receive a Logbook endorsement to take and pass to the aeronautical knowledge and practical test, and hold either a second- or first-class medical certificate
The applicant must accumulate a total of 250 hours of flight time, 100 hours as pilot in command (PIC), 50 hours cross-country PIC, 10 hours of instrument training, and 10 hours of technically advance airplane (TAA).
